Gesturing
Sunday, August 12th, 2007While taking some college classes, I was blessed have a teacher that showed me some great drawing methods. She taught me a method of drawing called “gesturing”. When you gesture it’s like scribbling as fast as you can without really thinking about the individual lines you are drawing. Instead you are thinking about the end result, the form of your object. I don’t always employ this method in my drawing, but it is a wonderful tool that I often use and find extremely valuable.
If the concept of gesturing doesn’t completely make sense to you, just follow some of my tutorials and watch the scribbles that I make and, with practice, you can become efficient in this method of drawing.
