This is a short tutorial on how to draw a pear. I drew this in Adobe Illustrator CS3, which requires a basic knowledge of the tools in AI, but the same principles apply whether you are drawing on the computer or by hand.
1. First start by drawing a line to represent how the pear will be leaning. This will be the core of our breakfast fruit.
1. Next, quickly scribble over the line like you’re wrapping a cord around it. Don’t draw in any specific order; try to make it look as natural as possible.
2. draw more scribbles until you get something like a glob of spaghetti wrapped around a fork. This may not seem like the “conventional way to draw”, but when you start with the core and work your way out, you have created the form of the object first.
3. Next, scribble around the edges a bit more to clearly define the shape of the pear. Now it’s starting to look like a pear.
4. Alrighty, let’s clean things up. In the last step we had what was the form of a pear, now trace a nice fat line around that, and erase the center. For this little pear, we did the scribbling to help us get our basic shape.
5. I’ve now added a base color, and replaced the line running through it with a stem.
6. This is the fun part, you can add different colors to the pear, and throw in some extra fruit. Now that looks like a delicious breakfast.
