Rest is extremely important for living a simple life. Daily rest is just one part of that, the other part is weekly rest. From Friday at sunset until Saturday at sunset I stop all physical and mental labor for 24 hours. It’s my Sabbath day.
I spend dedicated time every week with my best Friend, Jesus Christ. I cherish this time and won’t allow it to be disrupted. My wife and I attend a church where we spend a good portion of the day worshipping with fellow Christians. When the weather is nice we often take hikes in nature, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
What are the results?
I receive a special blessing. Every week my mind gets a break from work and I’m able to refocus. Most Sabbaths I forget about the worries of the week and am able to relax and enjoy the day. This has become such an integral part of my life that I won’t give it up for anything.
