Adding wonder into our world

This piece by Liz Gumbinner is beautiful.

So we’ve been working on the habit of putting down the Google machines welded to our hands and just discussing an idea instead of immediately looking up answers.

At first I thought I’d disagree with the premise. I actually enjoy being able to look things up right away and end the back and forth debate of yesteryears.

I think that’s part of what is so special about all the excellent series we’re watching right now: Severance. White Lotus. Coming soon, The Last of Us and, apparently, a new season of Ted Lasso. (Yay!)

These also happen to be the shows that roll out once a week.

Part of the fun has been the thinking, the theorizing, the speculating, and all the mystery.

But I love this.

After watching a great episode of television I’ll find myself on a Reddit thread for that episode, enjoying all the discussion and debate and wonder about the characters motivations, and what’s going to happen next.

I appreciate the unknowing here. In a world where we have answers to so many things, it’s good to have questions too.
