Asking questions through uncertainty
It’s fun to ask questions.
They’re cover for any situation.
If we don’t understand it’s an opportunity to learn. And that’s always a good thing.
Too often we feel pressured to pretend that we know a topic—why not just throw that to the wind and admit we’re open to finding somethign new. This gives us the chance to follow our curiosity.
Questions also help when things get awkard.
I’ve been in a bunch of situations where someone makes a statement I don’t like. Instead of arguing I start asking questions. It gives me the chance to move the conversation forward, and also opens the room for me to learn—even if I think they’re wrong.
The benefit of this method is, whether we ask out of curiosity, or we’re trying to avoid awkward silence—we’re covered by just asking questions.
