Astropad launches Rock paper Pencil Kit for iPad

MacRumors shared a post highlighting Astropad’s latest cover for the iPad.

The Rock Paper Pencil kit includes a microtexture screen protector that goes on the  iPad , and an accompanying Apple Pencil tip to use along with it. The latest version of the Rock Paper Pencil has a reengineered NanoCling screen protector that's thinner and more papery, so it feels more like writing on a stack of paper rather than just a single sheet. Compared to the prior version, it has a softer and smoother feel when writing.

I’m really skeptical of this. I’ve tried covers in the past, but they never work right for what I’m needing. I love the feeling of drawing on paper, and these types of covers have tried to replicate the tactile sensation of anything but drawing on glass.

The problem all these solutions run into is screen legitibility. They reduce what you can see  through the iPad, adding a filter that makes for a poorer viewing experience. That’s not necessarily a problem if you’re just sketching, but I just haven’t found the tradeoff to be worth it.

Of course, I haven’t tested this version, so I could be wrong. But each time I’ve tried a paper like protector I’ve been dissapointed.
