Donating to the Red Cross via Apple

The same thing, sadly, happens with charities. People generally don’t want to admit to selfishness, but I will. When I give money to a charitable cause, I always look for the checkboxes to opt out of being contacted by them in the future. When it happens anyway, I get annoyed, and I become reluctant to give to that charity again.

We have an absolute scourage of organizations abusing the ability to reach out to us. I wish there was an easy mechanism to know which companies still send me emails after I’ve unsubscribed. Email has become a graveyard of spam. junk, unwanted newsletters, and the occasional email I actually want.

I agree with Gruber here, this is an area where I’ll happily let Apple intermediate between me and the organization. I’m already starting to shift my habits toward hiding my email when signing up for new subscriptions. It’s not that I don’t want to support independence as a concept, I’m just so tired of it being abused.
