Good enough hardware

I find myself on the lookout for a new iPad. My mini is struggling to perform basic tasks, despite reformatting, and seems unhappy with the latest iPadOS.

One of the things I’ve been pondering is what’s actually necessary. For me I need the new device to be faster than before, and I need it to have more than 64 gigabytes of ram.

It also needs to support an Apple Pencil with magnetic charging.

The screensize is flexible, though I have an affinity for the mini.

I’ll probably upgrade to the iPad mini 7, since the cheaper iPad has less performative hardware, and the Air costs more.

I wouldn’t be opposed to a pro, but frankly my needs are so simple these days it’d be overkill. All I need is an iPad that can handle Freeform, my daily driver for UX design.

Hopefully my mini can limp along for a few months longer, but I’m eyeing its replacement.
