Instruments in person

It had been years since I was in the same room as a piano. That changed the other day, and I didn‘t expect how deeply hearing it live would move me—far more than a recording of the same piece would.

I’m not a musician. I know so little about the mechanics of making great music. But I love to listen to music. When I’m not listening to an audiobook or podcast I often have my favorite songs on repeat. Headphones are part of my life.

Now I‘m wondering if I should give going to the orchestra a try.

I’ve only been to one or two orchestras, but that as a child. I’ve been curious about trying it again as an adult. The closest I’ve come has been some amazing music at church related events, with life instruments of course. I’ve also been to a few concerts and felt the place moving.

When all the right pieces are in place something special happens, something not replicated with pre-recorded music.
