Losing yourself in the story, telling your story, design chaos, making it all fit, finding your crazy
Here are my five top articles this week. Thank you as always for reading.
- Lost in worlds, found in our world - Reading fiction opens up how we see our own world. If you haven’t found a great novel recently I encourage you to try again. I’ve got lots of recommendations.
- Every person has a story - Taking a little time to listen to the people around us will help to open up world’s we can’t imagine on our own.
- Wrestling through design chaos - An essay about my design process and how I move forward through blockers.
- Fitting in all the tiny things - We have a million small things to do. How do we fit them all?
- Finding your unique crazy fans - Taking ideas from two podcasters I follow and combining them together for a slightly new (but not really) idea.
This week I took a different approach from my regular writing.
Each day I wrote a single essay, around 750 words, and published it. Instead of lots of smaller pieces I focused on a single idea, writing and tweaking and editing until finished. That also means there’s a large buildup of bookmarks and saved articles I can’t wait to get to.
The results were a lot of fun. I welcome feedback on any that stood out, or you disagree with or loved.
Also, there’s a sixth piece I wrote that’s not in here, but I think you’ll still like it.
