Lowering the barrier to tinker
I love to play around with tech. When I hosted my website on a different server I’d mess around with the site files via FTP. It was so fun to tweak and modify files and see the results instantly. I also had a ton of security holes and had to deal with my my site getting hacked on numerous occasions.
But the chance to just tinker and play with things never lost its allure.
Recently with ChatGPT I’ve been able to get back into things again. I’m asking for help with simple coding changes, playing with things, testing the changes, and moving forward. The code quality isn’t great, but the conversation dialog with a chat bot helps me do things that I’d absolutely struggle with otherwise.
This is the beauty of technology, and the parts of the new AI revolution I appreciate. That more of us can try new things, learn from those things, and iterate forward.
