On mistakes

Don't multiply entities beyond the need. Another procedure, tool, table - there is no point if the previous ones don't work. If you feel a strong need to do another excel - it is worth starting with a simple text file or a sketch on a piece of paper. It should be enough to get through.

One thing I’ve found in product design is something now is better than perfect later. If a simple sketch now can convey information and help move the problem along, then go for it. That’s far better than a pixel perfect design that took days or weeks to complete.

At one point I had a sketch that took me ten minutes, dashed off between two important meetings, and it had the effect of helping shift the entire direction of a product. Not because the sketch was perfect, but because it conveyed the idea we were wrestling with and helped us all communicate and move the project forward.
