Running is life

Since I started running in January, I’ve noticed something that, while not incredibly surprising, is still new to me: while I’m running, I feel stronger, more physically capable, and healthier. It’s a reliable way to experience eustress on a scalable level.

I’ve been a runner since the age of 19. It’s part of my life. With any luck I’ll be running till I’m 80—the age of my unplanned running partner during my last marathon a decade ago. At that point she was starting to slow down and only doing a marathon a year.

Though I want to get into other types of movement, running helps me think, helps me enjoy life a little more. Any day on the trail beats being inside.
