Top five this week

My blog is a mix between Gruber, Ben, and Kottke. My unique spin is being a product designer in a changing world, capturing the shift in AI and why strategic thinking and forced evolution may have a chance at designers staying relevant.

Thanks to a suggestion from my brother, I’m going to start sharing my top 5 posts each Friday. If you don’t read everything it’s a way to focus you’re attention on what I vew as most important.

1. The Easter story I love - Though it has nothing to do with design per say, this time of year is special to me. I spend a lot of time at church preparing for an annual drama that we put on, and I wanted to write about why this matters. Even if you’re not religious I think the point of the post will resonate—namely that we all could use a bit more non-coercive, selfless, love, in our lives.

2. Writing for an audience - The piece I wrote leading up to the easter story, and how it was both harder and easier writing a piece that I knew would be shared with friends I’ve known in person for years.

3. The weekend resets - No matter how bad it gets I take time each weekend to disconnect from the news, work, the chaos around me, and spend that time with family and friends. It’s a disconnect I need, and I suggest trying it.

4. Designers and thoughts on 2025 - Starting to define my view on why this blog exists and how product designers can evolve in this shaping landscape of AI. This came from a podcast that my brother and I are working on (not shared publicly yet but email me if you want to get access to the private feed).

5. RSVP is wrong - I use RSVP correctly—most of the time, but I believe they are a thing that should die off and be replaced with something better.

Thanks for reading! And I hope you find some time to disconnect and reset. Maybe read a great book.
