You can't boil a frog

Stop trying to boil the frog.

We use this metaphor all the time. The references comes up in podcasts, the real world, and in all forms of media.

Yes, I get it.

We want to explain a concept to try and push an idea foward. Metaphors have their use.

But similar to a funnel being a dumb term for marketing (everything goes through), the blobfish looking weird (poor fellow is suffering from decompression sickness), boiling a frog is a bad way to describe a situation where people become immune to the changes around them.

Every time I heard this overused phrase my blood metaphorically starts to boil.

A quick Google search suggests a better: "It’s like putting a baby into a crib (do it slowly and they won’t notice)”.
