A different tactic
I've had an internal goal for the last year to write 750 words each day. Some days I meet that goal, some days I get overwhelmed and my writing goes nowhere.
Earlier this week I was encouraged by my friend to focus on a specific topic on this blog. The topic I'm choosing is something vaguely related to product design, still to be determined.
One of the problems I face, though, is I want to write about many things. There's an obvious solution to this, make different blogs for different topics. So I'm trying that.
On some days I don't have it in me to write about product design, but I still want to write. So, going forward I may start referencing content from other blogs, sort of like a bundle of writing (not an original idea I know), and I can reference the other things I did this week on this blog on the off days. So here goes.
- Basketball - It's the NBA playoffs, and I've started a blog. This may be a two week thing, or it might have a longer life. If you're wanting my thoughts on the Spurs, and my frustration with the Thunder, check out Beamed Away; and yes, it's a moniker to my love and frustration with the Kings.
- Religion - If you want to read my thoughts on religion, I post about once a month on Post Suspenders, a reference to a time where I wore suspenders for religious reasons.
- Async - An incredibly fun podcast where Saadia and I bounce back and forth episodes, one with me talking, the next with him, and responds asynchronously from America to Australia. It doesn't sound like it'd work, but it really does. We reference previous podcast, and carry forward a conversation much the way we have in years via iMessage voice memos. It's a lot of fun, and it's free. We're now over a hundred episodes in and loving it.
- Fractional - An ongoing blog where Lance and I talk about the state of fractional work, what it means to be a fractional, and how it's evolving.
Other ideas may come and go, so I'll share them occasionally. I don't always feel like writing on a specific topic, but I do always feel like sharing via voice or text my thoughts.
There's also other projects I'm working on, but most of them are in a state of pause for re-deciphering what they want to be.
Have a great weekend, and go Spurs!
