Finding ideas
I’m never short of ideas for writing these days.
I’ve kept a habit for years of capturing any ideas for articles into Apple Notes. When I sit down to write for the day I usually have an idea of what I want to say, but if I feel stuck I just go to my note list and pull something up. That’s usually enough to get me going and tear into an idea.
More recently I’ve been enjoying Reeder, with a long list of blogs that I’ve compiled (most pulled from an OMPL file, thanks Michał). I’ve now gotten into the habit of bookmarking articles that interest me, then scanning through those when it comes time to write. Many of the articles I quote now come from that list.
If you’re wanting to get into writing I encourage you to just toss something out there, then send the link to three friends and ask them for their feedback on it. Any feedback, good or bad, is fine.
I love when a friend texts me letting me know they disagree with something I wrote. Sometimes I change my mind as a result, other times I just appreciate that the words I put onto the page mattered to them.
