It's ok to be wrong

You can admit you don’t know.

Short of working alongside a true narcisistc—and I think I’ve only had that happen once in my career—you’re usually not going to get in trouble for admitting that you don’t know something.

From a workplace perspective that statement should generally be followed up with “but I’ll find out” or “and I’d love if you could share more”.

To not know is fantastic. It means that you’re still growing, willing to learn more, willing to push further, and excited to see what’s around the next corner.

Even times when I think I know something I’ve been delighted to pause, and listen to to another excitedly share. My knowledge of the topic may overlap theirs, but in every case they have something new to bring to the conversation that I can learn from.

I’m trying to grow in that department and embrace not knowing.
