Leaving social media for blogs

It’s 2025.

Blogging was supposed to be dead years ago. WordPress market share is shaky. Social media continues to be all consuming as things have moved into short form video.

Text form content isn’t doing great when it comes to the most popular forms of media out htere.

And yet.

Part of me hopes for something better.

Thanks to apps like MarsEdit for easily posting my ideas to the web, and Reeder (thanks Michał for the recommendation)! for consuming ideas from the web, I’m finding joy in reading again in ways that are separate from X, Threads, and all the rest.

I recently added a massive OPML blog role (thanks again Michał) into Reeder, and am finding all kinds of content that I’m loving reading. And the thing about these forms of content—they’re more thoughtful, more considered, and generally not the just the length of a tweet.

This may not be for everyone, but I’m loving it personally.
