Quiet reading
Reading is a mainstay in my life.
But the truer verb to use might be listening. I love stories, and I’ll always listen to a good story—most of which is now via a podcast or Audible book.
Recently I’ve been re-re-experimenting with physical reading.
The result so far is fun.
I’m slowly going through a book on Kindle. I’m reserving that story—a really good novel—only for the times when I pull out my Kindle.
In the past if I found a great book that I purchased to read, I’d also grab it via Audible and just move on. Here I’m trying a different approach, and slowly reading it as often as I can.
Some days I don’t get to it, but it’s an aspiration, a great story waiting to be picked up. It can’t compete with the addictive nature of social media and the like—but since I’m not doing that right now it’s a bit easier to quietly read a great book.
