Spam sucks, keep fighting back
A few weeks ago I wrote about iCloud’s “hide my email”. I’m now using it almost weekly, mostly with Safari’s auto-fill. It gives me a tiny sense of freedom after decades of spam abuse.
Chris Coyier shared similar frustrations, and it got me thinking about the problem again.
You can “mark as spam”, which may or may not help. Beyond that, you’ll have to set up an email filter to stop them, which is a step most will never do. (I think it’s worth doing.)
Via Email is Good
I’ve kind of known about filters, but haven’t used them. I might try them now.
I wish there was a way to ban a sender though, or just have better controls over what's allowed in the inbox.
HEY tried something similar. I used it daily—until a few months ago, when I transferred to Apple Mail. Apart from my annoyance at already-unsubscribed-abusers emailing again, it’s been fine.
HEY's screener is brilliant. You decide which emails come through, but it’s still a second inbox and not worth the price.
For now I’ll keep manually getting my inbox down to zero and try not to worry about it too much.
