Using Password managers and other online security things

Do you use the same password for every service? Or maybe you have an easy-to-remember formula for each one — something like the name of the service with the vowels replaced by numbers?

Those passwords are easy to guess and break into. It’s time to install a password manager.

I’m not sure I’m ready for Ben’s other steps. Not because they’re wrong, but because I’m sometimes slow to adopt new things.

This one though I wholeheartedly suggest to everyone who uses a computer. I’ve helped some friends and family get onto password managers, and they’re so incredibly useful. 1Password is my default recommendation, but Apple Passwords is free and might work if you are mostly or entirely in the Apple ecosystem.

Having passwords randomly generated (you can choose to make them human readable if you choose) is just one tiny step in improving the security of ourselves online.
