Why I love podcasting

I’ve been podcasting for 8 years on and off.

Not as long as some of my heroes in the space, but long enough to have gotten the feel for it. The taste gap is still there. But I know when I’m happy with the output and contents of an episode.

Sometimes I feel like I nailed it, many times I see opportunity to improve.

On the latest episode of Async, I feel that we nailed it, and I didn’t even say a word.

I say we loosely.

This is the most unique podcast I’ve ever heard. Saadia and I intentionally created a podcast that is one person at a time. I record an episode, he records an episode. We bounce back and forth to each other throughout the week. Some weeks we get a few episodes out, some weeks it’s just one (or none thanks to me mostly).

He doesn’t usually share when he’s finished an episode, I just see it popup in my feed (or get the notificatione email) and give it a listen.

We started this as an async podcast on the heels of a six month trial on a previous podcast with another awesome host. The result was we kept running into scheduling issues, so we decided to avoid that entirely.

Now, nearly 70 episodes in, we’re finding our groove. And I would love for you to give it a try.

The trick is that you have to dive in and just start following one episode at a time. We use part of an episode for followup, where we respond to what the previous episode talked about, then we start new topics.

On the latest 21 minute release Saadia nailed it. It wasn’t me recording this one, but I can happily own the we part of that because this creation, this show, is coming from two minds across the planet at different times.

If you’re interested in a short weekly podcast that talks about design and development, working remotely, and the process of building apps and businesses, then we’d love if you give it a listen.
