Using an editorial calendar for blogging
Want to make your blogging life easier with just one tool? Start using an editorial calendar. Let us show you how to create one.
I love the obvious care that Ben Sailor has put his editorial process. It’s clear that his brain thinks this way and it helps him create things on a schedule.
But for me my brain just doesn’t think this way. I’ve grown to appreciate the wide spectrum of ways to do things. Gruber writes when the fancy strikes. Ben Thompson writes on a near mechanical schedule. I love reading both of them. But I have to write my own way.
At the moment my method is simple. During most week days I write 750 words per day. I pull from either an idea in my head or a bookmarked link in Reeder or one of the nearly 1,000 ideas in my Apple notes doc.
The freedom of writing anything works well for me. It’s not to say Ben Sailor’s method is wrong. But I feel more me when I don’t know quite what I’m going to write ahead of time. Doing so would spoil the surprise, the journey of discovery.
