Along with getting rid of junk and living a minimal lifestyle, keeping things clean is just as essential. This means cleanliness in the areas of hygiene, your home, and even your car. What if you were hired for a job on the basis of how clean your car is? I feel so much better when the house is straightened up, or even when my computer is cleared of junk. Doesn’t it feel good?
Growing up we listened to dramatized audio tapes on the lives of important people throughout history. I remember one tape on the life of Booker T. Washington and the new school he was starting in Alabama. He was explaining to his new students the importance of cleanliness. To paraphrase his words he said, “If all you have to wear are rags and that’s what you have to come to school in, I’m fine with that; but those had better be clean rags!”
