I like the the Yaris, it’s a minimal car. I’ve ridden in two different versions, the three door and four door models. Being that it’s a newer brand the things it doesn’t have interest me.
- No power locks
Just manual, less things to go wrong. I’d rather reach over and unlock my doors by hand then have potential electrical issues, it also means the car costs less. How many times have you accidentally pressed the power lock in the wrong direction when trying to let someone into the car?
- No RPM gauge
I can tell by the sound of the engine if I’m pushing the car too hard, I don’t need a gauge for that. Leaving out RPM’s was a great idea, it’s one less thing to clutter up the dashboard.
- No cruise control
This one could be a clincher for people who drive long distances. But then again, it does keep you more alert by having to control the gas pedal yourself. Besides, I haven’t figured out a way to make cruise control simple. In all the cars I’ve driven cruise control is too complicated. I am still trying to come up with a way to make cruise control work by pressing just one button. I’ll let you know when I have the solution.
